Enjoy the boxes, rehide them well, and have a safe hike.
My Favorite Actor:
Stamps Carved by: Pink Trotters
Planted by: Pink Trotters and Leader of the Pack on 5/4/03
Location: Second Access to Coney Rock, Mansfield, CT.
Number of Boxes: 6
Length of Hike: One Hour Plus (Uphill, and crossing a
stream)
Driving Directions: This is the opposite side of the hill
that My Favorite Musicals is on.
From Rte195 at Mansfield Center take Chaffeeville Rd.
follow it and pass by the sign for Coney Rock Preserve continue on and take the
next right on Wildwood Rd. go straight up. At the T take a right on the dirt
Woodland Rd. Follow Woodland down until you pass a Tudor house on left then
look right for a small pull off before mailbox number 18. There is a small
yellow trail arrow high on a tree.
Clues:
|
From your car, walk down the trail
until your reach a stonewall. Leave the trail and walk along the wall on the
right. Follow the wall until it comes to a corner. At the base of the Y tree
Kenneth Branagh is waiting for you. (The box is NOT in the stonewall, it is
at the base of the tree).
|
|
Cross the brook and follow the trail as it
turns left. Henry V is waiting for you on the ground under a rock behind
a gray birch tree that will be on your left.
|
|
Much Ado About Nothing is the next box,
continue up the slope. Look for a tree that is dead from the waist up. Much Ado…
is inside the split base of this tree.
|
|
Cross the logging road. A little further up the
trail it bends right. At the bend look up the hill to a five foot stump.
Othello is inside this stump. After stamping in continue up the hill.
|
|
Pass over a stonewall, there is a turn in the
trail here. Go RIGHT.
|
|
After another stonewall you will pass between
two stumps on either side of the trail. Next stump on the right holds the box I
call Hamlet.
|
|
Continue walking up to wall and cross over it.
|
|
You are nearing the top of the hill now and
soon will reach an intersection. There are lots of signs at this intersection.
Please turn LEFT toward the Coney Rock Lookout. You will cross another logging
road. Keep walking until you reach a grove of pines. You will see two tree
stumps on your right. And since you have walked all this way stop and get
Love’s Labour’s Lost out of the tree stump. Isn’t it fitting that you have
climbed a hill to get these boxes as Kenneth’s career is rising all the time.
You have found all the boxes now, return to your car the way you came. I hope
that you enjoyed this series.
|
|
Please remember to close the boxes tight and
replace them to their hiding spots so they can’ be seen. This will help us
ensure that the boxes last a long time. Also, there is a stream that you have to
cross so be prepared to get wet if you have small children. Even though it does
have a rock bridge. Also before you start hiking please read the waiver.
